Cabaret

Money makes the world go around, the world go around, the world go around...at least that is what the people in the fantastic musial Cabaret believe!  Set in 1930's Germany, this musical focuses on the Kit Kat Klub and those in it.  Aspiring cabaret performer Sally Bowles dreams of being an actress and not work in this club forever.  When young English writer Brian arrives she begins to pull him into her life eventually gaining a new lover.
Though within these happy thoughts a dark party is rising to power in Germany, the Nazis are a big part of this story.  The devilish and weasely Master of Ceremonies is a strict supporter of the Nazi party and their leader: Adolph Hitler.  Let me say this is one character you will love to hate.
The Broadway musical adaptation of this remerkable story is much different than the movie musical version.  For instance, Sally is 19 and from Britain in the broadway adaptation rather than probably late twenties early thirties and American in the movie.  And her love interest is not even named Brian, his name is Cliff and he is American instead of English.  You don't stray from the Kit Kat Klub on broadway but in the movie you are taken into the city of Germany and out in its countrysides.
With memorable performances in the movie by Liza Minelli as Sally Bowles, Michael York as Brian, and the notable Joel Grey as the devilish Emcee (who he also played in the broadway show).  In the department of amazing entertainment this musical takes the cake for sure!
Some of the most notable songs from the show are Mein Heir, Money Money, Two Ladies, and of course Cabaret!  Here's a link to Money Money sung by Liza Minelli and Joel Grey!

I highly recommend this wonderful musical to those a little older please be 13 or older before watching due to some sexual inuendos and scenes.

For those of you who wish to learn more about the musical Cats, here is a link to it's history!

CATS

This is the musical that started it all for me!  Cats is one of the most amazing musicals you will ever see for many reasons.  The music in it is awe inspiring and you just want to get up and dance with the cast (trust me I have gotten up and danced through this musical)!  The choreography is so breath takingly beautiful and performed with expert skill that you don't want to take your eyes off the screen!
Cats is the second longest running broadway musical on record right behind a Chorus Line.  This is also the fourth longest running West End Musical on record.  From 1982-2000 this musical has touched audiences young and old.  Based on T.S. Elliot's Old Possum;s Book of Practical Cats the songs and scenes will have you entranced from beginning to end.
Andrew Lloyd Webber is the genius behind this musical.  He found the best orchestra, cast and crew for the job.  His film version of this musical has big name stars such as Elaine Paige and Ken Page.  Each executed their roles with utmost dignity and captivating acting as well as remarkable voices!
The story is simple.  The Jellicle cats meet once a year, for the Jellicle ball where they all rejoice.  Then the Jellicle leader will soon appear and make what is known as the Jellicle choice.  When Old Deuteronomy just before dawn through a silence you feel you could cut with a knife, announces the cat who can now be reborn and come back to a different Jellicle life.  For waiting up there is the Heavyside Lair full of wonders one Jellicle only will see.  And Jellicles ask because Jellicles dare, who will it be?  You'll find out who when you watch the musical!
Some of my favorite songs from this are Mungojerrie and Rumpelteazer (two little cat burgalurs), Rum Tum Tugger (The Michael Jackson/ Elvis cat of the tribe), and Memory parts 1 and 2 (sung by Grizabella as portrayed by Elaine Paige.)  Believe me, Cats is a musical you do not want to miss out on.  I'm giving you a link/ video for a taste of this fantastic phenomenon!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xrRaV9tbB-w&safe=active
